Nanny Zoo Pvt Ltd offers reliable temporary nanny placement services for families who require short-term childcare support. Whether your need is planned or unexpected, we assist you in securing a trained, vetted, and trustworthy nanny for the period required.
Our temporary nannies are commonly placed with families who:
- Are visiting South Africa for holidays or short stays
- Require cover while their permanent nanny is on maternity leave
- Need support when a nanny is on sick leave
- Require additional help when a parent or spouse is temporarily unavailable
These situations represent some of the most frequent requests for temporary nanny placements.
Our Approach to Temporary Placements
Nanny Zoo follows the same strict placement process for temporary nannies as we do for permanent placements. Because children’s safety and wellbeing are involved, we never shorten or bypass our screening, interview, or trial procedures, even when the placement period is brief.
A trial period remains essential to ensure compatibility, reliability, and peace of mind for your family.

How Our Temporary Nanny Placement Process Works
Step 1
Complete our online registration form to begin the placement process. This allows our placement consultant to understand your household’s needs and preferences.
Step 2
A Nanny Zoo consultant will contact you by phone or email to explain our process, answer any questions, and guide you through the next steps.
Step 3
Payment of the R250 once-off registration fee is required to initiate the placement process.
Step 4
You will receive 3 to 5 nanny profiles for review, carefully selected based on your requirements.
Step 5
Once you have shortlisted candidates, we will arrange interviews at your convenience. Interviews typically take place in your home, and additional candidates can be arranged if required.
Step 6
After interviews, you may select a nanny for a trial period. Trial days are paid directly to the nanny. The daily rate will be confirmed by Nanny Zoo and is based on hours worked and transport costs.
A maximum of three trial days may be arranged, with up to three different nannies if needed.
Step 7
If you are satisfied and wish to proceed, please notify Nanny Zoo before offering employment. We will provide all necessary contracts, documentation, and invoices, and guide both you and the nanny through the next steps.
Important Terms & Guidelines
- Nanny Zoo provides guidance throughout the process, including help defining your needs and preparing interview questions.
- Nannies using public transport must be reimbursed for travel costs, typically R30–R50 per interview.
- A minimum of one trial day is strongly recommended to assess integration into your household.
- The registration fee covers up to six interviews and three trial days. Additional interviews or trial days may incur extra fees.
- For short-term contracts, payment is required upfront.
- All fees become due once the nanny commences employment. Failure to pay by the invoice due date may result in the candidate being withdrawn.
- A 10-day service-level adjustment may be offered for qualifying placements, subject to timely payment.
- If a temporary nanny is later employed on a permanent basis, a permanent placement fee will apply.
- Engagement of a Nanny Zoo candidate within 12 months of profile receipt or interview will result in the applicable placement fee.
- Nannies remain free agents until a trial begins and may attend multiple interviews. Placements operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and the nanny retains the right of final choice.
- Service-level guarantees do not apply to temporary placements.
- The acceptance of our terms and conditions via the online registration form confirms agreement to these terms
