Trusted Nanny Placements & Professional Cleaning Services
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How rigorous is your vetting and background check process?
Our vetting process is mandatory and non-negotiable. It includes SAPS criminal background checks (Police Clearance), verification of all past employment references by Nanny Zoo staff, identity verification, and general health screening. We ensure every candidate is someone we would trust in our own home.
How does a Nanny Zoo candidate differ from someone I hire informally?
Our candidates are certified professionals. They complete our comprehensive training curriculum, which includes crucial modules like paediatric/specialized First Aid & CPR, child development strategies, home hygiene protocols, and professional etiquette. They are trained for the job, not just seeking work.
How long does the placement process typically take?
Once we receive your detailed family profile, the matching process usually takes 5 to 10 working days for local placements, depending on your specific requirements. International placements may take longer due to visa and travel logistics.
What happens if the placement doesn't work out or is not a good fit?
We offer a placement guarantee period (e.g., three months) during which Nanny Zoo will immediately source and provide a replacement candidate at no extra placement fee. Your satisfaction and peace of mind are our priority.
What are the associated costs for families/employers?
Our costs are split into two parts: a non-refundable placement fee charged by Nanny Zoo (based on the complexity of the role) and the monthly salary paid directly to the staff member. We provide clear guidance on typical industry salary benchmarks for South African and international roles.
Are your specialised caregivers (Frail Care, Special Needs) specifically trained?
Yes. These caregivers undergo advanced, specialized modules specific to the field (e.g., dementia care, mobility assistance, medication management, specific disability support techniques). We match you with staff holding the precise credentials your situation requires.
How are cultural exchange placements (Au Pairs) handled internationally?
We assist with the entire process, including preparing the necessary visa documentation, travel arrangements, and ensuring both the Au Pair and the host family understand the cultural exchange expectations. We manage the paperwork to make the transition smooth.
Who is the employer of the staff member—Nanny Zoo or the family?
The staff member (Nanny, Housekeeper, Caregiver) is typically an employee of the household they work for, not Nanny Zoo Pvt Ltd. We act solely as the training and placement agency. We can, however, provide guidance on standard employment contracts.
Do you offer ongoing support and professional development after the placement?
Yes, our support doesn’t end when the placement starts. We maintain contact with both the staff and the family. We also offer further development courses that staff can attend to continually upgrade their skills.
How do you ensure the candidate is a good match for our family's personality and values?
Yes, our support doesn’t end when the placement starts. We maintain contact with both the staff and the family. We also offer further development courses that staff can attend to continually upgrade their skills.
